Yesterday was a pretty rotten day. I was trying to be a good labmate and organize the chemical cabinet. The bottle of ethidium bromide jumped out at me and decided to break. I had to clean it up. Apparently around 5 p.m. a bad-ass storm blew through town. I was still in the lab, so while I saw the darkness and heard the rain pounding in the hoods, I didn't realize just how bad it was. I just burned my fingies with liquid nitrogen. Ow.

There's this big scary autoclave that I use sometimes in the lab. It has this gigantic ol' round crank handle on the front like you would see on a submarine. There are tons of warnings all over telling you that the contents are under so much pressure that if you try to open it too soon the door will basically explode off. It's frightening.
